1. What we collect
Facet collects three things, and only three:
- An anonymous device identifier. A randomly-generated UUID, created on your device the first time you open the app. It is not derived from your hardware. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or any other personal information. We send it to our backend so we can associate your scans with this installation across app launches.
- Face geometry from your TrueDepth scan. Distances, angles, ratios, and skin tone measurements generated when you scan your face. This data is created on your device and stays on your device. It is never transmitted to our servers or to anyone else.
- Aggregated product interaction events. Counts of common app actions (such as "scan completed" or "settings opened") to help us understand what features people use. These events are anonymized and cannot be linked back to you or any specific person.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contact list, location, photos library, microphone, or any other personal information. The app does not ask you to sign in or create an account.
2. On-device processing
All face scanning, scoring, and analysis happens entirely on your iPhone using Apple Core ML and ARKit. The machine-learning models that produce your category scores are bundled with the app and run on your device's Neural Engine.
No facial image, depth map, mesh, landmark data, or measurement is uploaded to our servers or to any third party. Your scan history, scores, and routine data are stored locally in the app's container on your device.
Facet does not use facial recognition technology. The app measures geometric and color properties — it does not identify who you are.
3. What we never do
- We never sell your data to anyone.
- We never share your data with advertisers or advertising networks.
- We never use your face data for advertising, marketing, profiling, or training third-party machine-learning models.
- We do not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not participate in data broker networks.
4. Analytics and crash reporting
We collect anonymized, aggregated event counts (described in §1) to understand how people use the app and to improve it. These events do not include your face data, your category scores, your measurements, or any personally identifiable information.
Crash reports may be collected automatically by Apple through standard iOS mechanisms when the app crashes. These contain technical device information (model, iOS version, stack trace) but no facial data and no personal information. Crash reports are governed by Apple's privacy policy, not ours.
5. Subprocessors
A small number of third-party services help us run the app. They receive only the data they need to do their job, and they are contractually bound to protect it.
- Supabase (database hosting for the anonymous device identifier). Supabase privacy policy.
- Cloudflare (CDN and edge for this website). Cloudflare privacy policy.
- Apple (App Store distribution, App Attest anti-fraud, and standard iOS crash reporting). Apple privacy policy.
We do not use any analytics, advertising, attribution, or AI/ML SDK that transmits your face data, depth data, scores, or measurements to a third party.
6. Data retention and deletion
On your device. Your scan data, scores, routines, and history live in the app's container. Deleting the app from your iPhone removes everything.
In Settings, anytime. The app has a "Delete account & data" button in Settings. Tapping it wipes all locally stored data (scan history, routines, preferences, Keychain entries) and sends a server-side delete request to remove your anonymous device identifier from our backend. Server-side deletion completes within 7 days.
Aggregated analytics. Anonymized event counts cannot be linked to you or your device and are retained for as long as we need them for product improvement. Because they are not personal data, they are not affected by deletion requests.
7. Your rights (GDPR & CCPA)
If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or California, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request a portable copy of your data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to processing of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time
Because the app stores nearly everything on your device, you already have direct access and direct control. To delete everything in one tap, open Facet → Settings → "Delete account & data".
To exercise any additional right, email privacy@rencix.com with the subject line "Data protection request". We respond to all requests within 30 days. We do not sell personal data, so there is no opt-out of sale to honor.
8. Age restriction
Facet is intended for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used the app, contact us at privacy@rencix.com and we will delete any associated data.
9. Cookies and tracking
Facet is a native iOS app and does not use cookies. We do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use cross-device tracking. We do not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) for any purpose, and the app does not display an App Tracking Transparency prompt because no tracking occurs.
This website (facet-app.info) is static — it does not use analytics cookies or third-party trackers.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app at the next launch after the change takes effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
